■ How to Identify a Memory Module
When installing memory modules, make sure that the two memory modules (DIMMs) in each set have
the same number beginning with "CA" (e.g. CA05946-E101) on their DIMM label.
When an identification label is attached, make sure that the two memory modules (DIMMs) in each set
have the same capacity and that their identification label is attached at the same position.
The identification label attachment positions are shown below.
■ Memory Mirroring Function
Memory mirroring consists of two memory pairs. The available memory capacity (logical capacity) is
half of the physical capacity. One memory pair is set to primary and the other, to secondary. When data
is stored in memory, the same data is written in both memory pairs. If a memory failure occurs, the
defective memory pair is automatically disconnected and the server operation continues using the other
memory pair. After the defective memory module is replaced, the system is automatically restored to its
normal state.
Installation Conditions
Install memory modules according to the following conditions.
• A mirror set consists of two memory pairs. There is no problem with mirror sets having different
capacities.
With this server, two mirror sets can be composed of the pair of memory pairs 1 and 2 and the pair of
memory pairs 3 and 4.
• Use the same type of memory modules for the two memory pairs composing a mirror set.
