Backup battery

The Model 3711 contains a backup battery that provides backup power to the clock and to SRAM.
Under normal conditions, the backup battery has a functional life of five years or more.
This battery can be replaced in the field. Micro Motion recommends that the battery be replaced every
five years, or after any extended period of power-down or storage. If the backup battery power is too
low, any power-down will result in loss of all configuration data, history, event and alarm logs, custom
displays, and FSTs. Replacement batteries are available from Micro Motion.
Replacing the battery also results in loss of all configuration data, history, event and alarm logs,
custom displays, and FSTs. Ensure that all data is saved to a file before replacing the battery.

Automatic self-tests

The Model 3711 performs the following self-tests on a periodic basis:
Software watchdog
Sensor operation
The software watchdog is controlled by the central processor unit (CPU). The CPU automatically
arms the watchdog timer every second. If a period of 9 seconds elapses during which the watchdog
timer is not armed, the watchdog timer forces the Model 3711 to perform a warm start, and an event is
logged.
