Tuning the PID control loop

To tune the PID control loop:
1. Click the
Figure 10-2.
2. Configure parameters as required, for both the primary and the override loop. Parameters are
listed and defined in Table 10-1.

PID loop tuning parameters
Parameter
Description
Gain
Proportional gain. Ratio of change in the control output to
change in the error.
Reset
Integral gain. Ratio of change in the control output to change in
the integral of the error, with respect to time.
Rate
Derivative gain. Ratio of change in the control output to change
in the derivative of the error, with respect to time.

window. The window is expanded as shown in
Comments
"Error" is the difference between
the setpoint and the current value
of the process variable.
Value represented in terms of
