2. Wait until the update has finished and the AES module has restarted. The up-
date process can take up to 10 minutes depending on network utilization.
3. If the AES module does not start after 10 min, briefly disconnect it from the
power supply. Older AES modules have to be started manually.

8 Protocol-specific functions

8.1 EtherNet/IP: Activate stuff bytes

On the "System configuration" tab, you can activate stuff bytes to achieve even
overall data lengths for all input and output data. You will need this function if the
PLC can only process EtherNet connections with even data lengths (pure 16-bit
systems). This function adds an unused byte to the end of the input and output
data if the overall data length is uneven.
The selection can only be changed if the module has not established a cyclic con-
nection to a control.
The selection is saved permanently, meaning the selection is not reset
when the unit is disconnected from the power.
1. Select the "System configuration" tab.
2. Check the box next to "Activate stuffbytes for even data size".

Changes to the selection do not take effect until after a power reset has been per-
formed.
Briefly disconnect the AES module from the power supply and restart it.

The number of bytes is adjusted for the input and output data.

9 Troubleshooting

9.1 Table of malfunctions

Table 6 contains an overview of malfunctions, possible causes, and remedies.
If you cannot remedy a malfunction, please contact AVENTICS GmbH.

Remedy
Briefly disconnect the AES
module from the power sup-
ply. Begin the update process
again and wait until the AES
module restarts. This can take
up to 10 minutes.
Start the AES module manu-
ally.
Restore the original name of
the update file.
