Obtaining ServeRAID updates

IBM periodically makes updated versions of the ServeRAID firmware, device drivers and utility programs
available from the IBM Support page on the World Wide Web. In addition to the updated device drivers
and utility programs, there are also two ServeRAID command-line programs, IPSSEND and IPSMON,
available from the World Wide Web.
Note: If you need to update any RAID software, you must update all RAID software at the same time to
ensure compatibility with all of the levels of the software. This includes:
BIOS/firmware
Device drivers
The ServeRAID Manager program
Command-line programs
You can download the most current versions of the ServeRAID device drivers and utility programs
or a copy of the IBM ServeRAID Command Line Programs Diskette from the following address on
the World Wide Web:
http://www.ibm.com/pc/support
Refer to the readme file on your diskette or CD-ROM for installation instructions. (See Chapter 7,
"Getting help, service, and information" on page 109 for more information.) If you do not have
access to the World Wide Web, contact your place of purchase, your IBM reseller, or your IBM
marketing representative for replacement CDs or diskettes.
The IBM ServeRAID Support CD contains the following:
ServeRAID Manager program. You can run this program before installing your operating system when
you start (boot) the CD. You can also use this program after you have installed your operating
system. This program is available in the PROGRAMS/OPERATING SYSTEM/MANAGER directory.
See Chapter 3, "Configuring controllers using the ServeRAID Manager program" on page 17 for more
information.
Device drivers. These files are available in the PROGRAMS/OPERATING SYSTEM/DRIVER
directory.
Command-line programs. These command-line programs are in the appropriate operating system
subdirectory of the PROGRAMS/OPERATING SYSTEM/CMDLINE directory. See "Installing the
IPSSEND and IPSMON command-line programs" on page 67 for more information.
ServeRAID files needed to install Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) when using Windows NT and an
IBM ServeRAID-3H, ServeRAID-3HB, or ServeRAID-3L Ultra2 SCSI controller. These files are in the
/PROGRAMS/WINNT/CLUSTER directory on the IBM ServeRAID Support CD. Detailed instructions
for installing and using these files are provided in the IBM Netfinity High-Availability Cluster Solutions
Installation and User's Guide.
Note: You can find this book on the IBM ServeRAID Support CD in the /BOOKS directory. Use
Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the file CLUSTER.PDF.
