Starting in UnixWare

To start the ServeRAID Manager program in UnixWare:
Note: Ensure you have superuser privileges before starting this procedure.
1. Get to the directory where you installed the ServeRAID Manager program by typing:
cd /opt/Netfinity/RaidMan
2. Type the following; then, press Enter to start the program:
sh RaidMan.sh
The program starts in the Information mode and a screen similar to the previous screen appears.
3. See "Local-only mode and network mode."

Local-only mode and network mode

The ServeRAID Manager program starts in local-only mode if TCP/IP is not installed on your system.
After the program loads, you can access the ServeRAID controllers.
When the Main window appears:
If you are running the program in the local-only mode and you have ServeRAID controllers installed in
your system, the current settings of the installed controllers appears on the screen.
If you are running the program from a client with no ServeRAID controllers, a message appears
stating that no ServeRAID controllers are installed in your system.
For information on using network mode and viewing other servers with ServeRAID controllers, see "Using
the Notification Manager" on page 34.

Configuring the ServeRAID controller

When the ServeRAID Manager program is installed on your system, you can use the program to configure
and modify ServeRAID controllers as you did in bootable-CD mode (see "Using the Configuration mode"
on page 21 and "Using the Information mode" on page 28). This section provides information about the
following ServeRAID actions:
Change RAID levels
Increase free space
Increase logical drive space

Modifying a configuration

You can modify a configuration to change RAID levels, increase free space, or increase logical drive
space. When you use these actions, you dynamically change the current logical drive structure.
To modify a configuration, you must have at least two logical drives available: one free logical drive and
one source logical drive that is in the okay state. During the procedure, the ServeRAID controller changes
the state of the free logical drive to system; then, temporarily uses the system drive to perform the
migration. When the migration procedure completes, the ServeRAID controller changes the state of the
system drive back to free.
