To install the ServeRAID Manager program, you must have a network drive mapped to the root
directory of the SYS partition.
Before you install the ServeRAID Manager program, be sure you have the following installed on your
NetWare system:
If you are using NetWare 5.0:
Install Support Pack 2 before installing the Novell JVM for NetWare. Download the latest Support
Pack from the following address:
http://support.novell.com/misc/patlst.htm#nw
If you are using NetWare 4.2:
No Support Packs are required for NetWare 4.2, although it is recommended you install the latest
Support Pack available from Novell. Download the latest Support Pack from the following address:
http://support.novell.com/misc/patlst.htm#nw
If you are using NetWare 4.11:
– Install at least Support Pack 5, however, more recent Support Packs are available and
recommended. Download the latest Support Pack from the following address:
http://support.novell.com/misc/patlst.htm#nw
– You must activate long file names on the NetWare server. To activate long file name support,
type at the NetWare command line:
load long
add name space long to sys
After executing these commands, restart the server.
For NetWare 4.x, 4.2, and 5.0:
Use the Novell Java Virtual Machine version 1.1.7 or later. Versions older than 1.1.7 are not
compatible with the ServeRAID Manager program. To check your JVM version, load Java and
type at the NetWare command prompt:
JAVA -VERSION
Download the latest JVM from the following address:

To install the ServeRAID Manager program for Novell NetWare, do the following:
1. Configure your controllers and arrays. See Chapter 3, "Configuring controllers using the ServeRAID
Manager program" on page 17 for information.
2. Install your operating system. See the instructions that came with your server and your operating
system for information.
3. On a Microsoft Windows client that is connected to the NetWare system, map a network drive to the
root directory of your NetWare SYS partition.
4. Insert the IBM ServeRAID Support CD into the CD-ROM drive of the Windows client. The installation
program starts.
5. When prompted, choose the NetWare 4.x/5.x operating system.
