Assembly
The toothed belt must be able to vibrate freely and must not touch the probe of the frequency
measurement device. For evaluation of the toothed belt pretension, perform several measurements to
balance out any measurement tolerances.
5. Hit the toothed belt once with a narrow, heavy object, e.g. Allen key 6, to set it vibrating.
6. Read the self-generated frequency of the toothed belt on the frequency meter.
The measured value for a correct pretensioning must be in the frequency range 150 ... 160 Hz.
Ä If the measured value is within this tolerance range, the toothed belt has the correct preten-
sion.
Ä
If the measured value is outside this tolerance range, the toothed belt pretensioning must
be adjusted.

Setting the toothed belt pretensioning

NOTICE
Incorrect toothed belt pretensioning
Reduced service life of toothed belt, guides and ball bearings.
Changed operating characteristics of the product.
Deterioration in positioning accuracy.
Positioning errors and danger of collision due to skipping of the toothed belt.
Checking and adjusting the toothed belt pretensioning
• after initial installation of the product.
• after initial commissioning (after approx. 30 strokes at operating temperature).
• after removing/installing or replacing the toothed belt.
The toothed belt pretensioning is reduced during storage and operation. This is a normal process
that must not be altered by retensioning the toothed belt. The reduced pretension is not suitable for
evaluating the level of wear of the toothed belt.
