About this guide
Scope of the reference manual
The purpose of this document is to enable developers to integrate the Digi Connect EM or Digi
Connect Wi-EM modules into other devices. Graphics illustrate the placement and dimensions of
components for both the modules and the development board. Information for both the Digi Connect
EM and the Digi Connect Wi-EM are identical unless called out specifically in the manual.
Kits contents
This manual is intended for customers who use either the Digi Connect EM/Digi Connect Wi-EM
Integration Kit or the Digi Connect EM/Digi Connect Wi-EM Development Kit, which are described
below.
About the integration kit
The integration kit is the ideal platform for product evaluation, rapid prototyping, and integration of
the Digi Connect EM or Digi Connect Wi-EM embedded device server. Targeted specifically at
customers who want to take advantage of the Digi Connect EM or Digi Connect Wi-EM embedded
device server with Digi plug-and-play firmware functionality, both products enable integration of the
Digi Connect EM or Digi Connect Wi-EM embedded module without any extensive embedded software
development with all the additional flexibility and benefits of web user interface customization and
application specific java applets. Included in the Digi Connect EM or Digi Connect Wi-EM Integration
Kits are the following:
Complete development board with EIA-232 serial ports, signal status indicators, logic analyzer
