Add Camera
From the Add Camera menu, you can add a new or replacement Wi-Fi IP camera or device
to your Wi-Fi NVR. For the precise steps on pairing a new camera, see Step 6. Pair a
Replacement / Add-On Camera. For a brief description of the options within this menu, see
below.
1. Protocol: Establishes the protocol used by the Wi-Fi NVR when it is looking for cameras to
pair with.
2. Table 1: Shows the cameras available to pair with the Wi-Fi NVR.
3. Table 2: Shows the cameras already paired to the Wi-Fi NVR.
4. Wireless Add: Clicking here will allow the Wi-Fi NVR to begin searching for new Wi-Fi IP
cameras and devices that can be added. Ensure your device is in pairing mode and be
patient while the Wi-Fi NVR connects. You will see the device you are adding appear in a
table and can then click Exit to return to this menu.
5. Add All Cameras: Pairs all cameras in Table 1 with the Wi-Fi NVR and places those
cameras in Table 2, so long as the number of cameras in Table 1 does not exceed the
number of available channels on the Wi-Fi NVR. This option also pairs cameras that are
not in the same network segment as the Wi-Fi NVR.
6. Edit: This will take you to an advanced menu where you can manually adjust things like
the camera's protocol, the IP address, MAC address and port of the cameras in Table 1. It
should only be used by advanced users with specific networking knowledge.
7. Advance: See advanced options, such as automatic bitrate which is automatically
configured based on the compression algorithm. Unless you are an advanced user, there
is no need to make any adjustments here.

Need help?
Do you have a question about the WNIP2 Series and is the answer not in the manual?
Questions and answers
I have model WNIP-2LTA-BS-U stand alone camera. I previously had this device in use for my garage. we had to change routers and now have different password. I **** not able to get the camera connected
To connect the Night Owl WNIP-2LTA-BS-U camera to a new router with a different password, you need to bypass its default pairing with the NightOwl NVR. Follow these steps:
1. Configure a wireless access point (AP) with the same SSID and password (PSK) that the camera was originally paired with.
2. Set up a new VLAN on your router or firewall with the same IP range that was used by the original NVR.
3. Assign this VLAN to the AP to simulate the original NVR environment.
4. Add routing rules in your firewall so that your LAN can access the camera network.
5. The cameras will connect to the new AP using the same credentials and be accessible as standalone ONVIF-compatible cameras.
This setup removes the cameras from NightOwl's control and allows use with third-party NVRs like BlueIris or VLC.
