seols
from the

ossembly

the

INSPECTING
PARTS
With the
tronsmission
completely
disossembled,
oll
ports should
be
corefully
cleoned so
thot they con
be
thoroughly
exomined.
TRANSMISSION
Beorings
Beorings
must
be
hondled
with
greot core. Wrop them
in o
cleon
cloth
or
poper until they
con
be
woshed.
To
wosh
o
beoring,
submerge
it
in
o
cleoning
solution
thot is
obsolutely
free
of dirt ond
rotote
it to
flush owoy
oll oil
ond
dirt.
Dry
the
beoring
with
co
re.
Corefully
exomine
eoch beoring for
crocked
roces,
worni
or
scored
bolls.

lnstoll
the geors onto
lhe
moin shoft

be
sure
they slide on ond
off
eosily.
They should
fit
smoothly
without
ex-
cessive
ploy
between
the
splines.

the
fit
is
tight, look

burred
edges

the
splines.
Synchro-Clutch
ond
Friction
Rings
Corefully
inspect
the
synchro-clutch
ond friction rings. Slide
the
rings
on
the
cones
of
the
second
speed
geor
ond
the
clutch
shoft.
Reploce
rings
if
there
is excessive
weor
or o
pitted
con-
dition on
the toper.
Tronsmission Cose
Exomine
the
surfoces
of the
beoring
recesses
in
the
tronsmission cose for
weor
or
scoring which
indicotes thol
the beoring hos been revolving
in
its
housing.
Exomine
the
cose
for
crocks
or
other
defects.
