Clutch
Pressure
Springs
A
thorough inspection
of
the
clutch
springs should
olwoys
be
mcrde. They
should
be
tested
for
spring
tension
when
the spring is
compressed
to
o
given Iength.

the eyebolt pin,
ond
the
fulcrum.

reploce

To
remove
the
releose
levers, grosp
o
lever ond eyebolt
befween
the
thumb
ond fingers so
thol the
inner
end of the
lever
ond the
upper
end
of
the eyebolt ore os neor
to-
gether
os
possible. Keep
the
eyebolt
pin
secrted
in
its socket
in the
lever
(Fig.4).

Slide
the
clutch
driven plote
onto
the
tronsmission
clutch shoft
to
rnoke
sure
thot
it
is free
on the
splines.
lf
the
splines
on the
tronsmission
clutch
shofl
ore
burred,
Temove
the
burrs
with
o
flne
flle or
stone.
If the
move-
ment
of
the
clutch
driven
plote is
not
free on the
splines,
the
result
will
be
clutch
drog ond
hord shifting
of
trons-
mission
geors.
CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
Prior
to
ossembly,
opply
o
smoll
omount
of
petrolotum
to
eoch side
of
the
pressure
plote
lug.
Loy
the
pressure
plote on the
block
in the
press.
Assemble
o
lever,
eyebolt,
ond
pin
holding
the
lever ond eyebolt
os
close
together
os
possible.
With the
other
hond,
grosp
the fulcrum os
shown
in
Figure
6.

sporingly

light
engine
oil.
Then ploce
the
clutch
pressure
springs
in

verticol
position
on
the
spring
bosses.
Check
the
crnti-rottle
springs
in
the
clutch cover
ond
ploce
the
cover
on
top of the
pressure
plcrte
ossembly.
The
top of
eoch
pressure
spring
must
enter
its
spring seot in the cover.

Slowly
compress
the
cover
moking

eyebolts

guided through
the
proper
holes
in the
cover.
Hold
the
clutch under
co.npression
ond
screw
down
the
odlusting
nuts
until thev ore flush with
the tops
of
the
eyebolts.
Releose
the
spindle
of
the
press.
