Example 1: If you are measuring battery voltage, we want the BVM to show that the input is -54.2 VDC
if -54.2 VDC is really being measured. However, if you are measuring temperature, the values are
typically not a 1 : 1 ratio.
Example 2: Your X-Type sensor outputs 4 - 20mA. We use a 250 ohm resistor to convert current to
voltage measurement. Ohms Law tells us that 4mA x 250 ohms = 5 VDC. The sensor should tell us
what the output current references. In this example, 4mA = 23º F and 20mA = 131º F OR 1V = 23º F
and 5V = 131º F.

Note: Cell inputs require the correct battery harness installed that is appropriate for the cell voltage you
are monitoring. Damage could occur without the external harness and could void your warranty. See
Section 9.2 "Calibrating Battery Harness" for battery harness calibration details. Contact DPS Telecom
support team if you require assistance regarding the battery harness options.
Battery Strings
Check which analog channel you want to use.
User-definable description for the analog channel
Check this box to reverse the polarity. (This is not typically used.
Reversing polarity is the same as reversing your wiring.
Example: -54VDC becomes +54VDC)
Check which notification device(s), 1 through 8, you want to send alarm
notifications for that analog alarm. Check the box in the green bar (top)
to have a notification device send an alarm for all analog channels.
Detailed Battery String Editing
Defines which group of cell inputs make up this particular string.
The interval at which the BVM will record the status of the battery
Drop-down option for the battery harness type (2V cell(Default), 12V
cell, 48V supply). Not using a harness could result in damage to your
unit and inaccurate readings.
Threshold for individual cells.
Defines the average threshold. This is typically a low value and will
trigger if any cell deviates from the average of the rest of the cells by
this amount.
Defines the summ'd thresholds. All channels are added together to
create the summary voltage.
