1 AutoRead Introduction
AutoRead
for Windows
is an application designed to simplify route organization, meter
®
™
reading tasks (data gathering, sorting and reporting), and meter reading entry into billing
software applications.
AutoRead is a third-generation software package which follows in the line of Rockwell Meter
Management System (RMMS) and Sensus Technologies AutoRead System (STARS). While
AutoRead will seem very familiar to users of these previous systems, it adds many powerful
features along with an easy to use Windows interface which is compatible with Windows
XP Professional, Vista Business, Vista Enterprise, Vista Ultimate (32-bit versions only), and
Windows 7, 8, or 10 Professional (32- and 64-bit versions) operating systems.
AutoRead gives a utility the ability to choose from a wide variety of commercially available
billing software packages, as well as many custom designed packages, because of its
industry leading flexibility in interface formats. A utility's billing software need only provide a
standard Fixed or Variable ASCII text file of the route information to the PC in order to use
the system. AutoRead organizes the meter reading data into an ASCII file format so that it
can then be received by the utility's billing system. See

AutoRead gives the utility one common interface for all the Sensus Automated Meter
Reading (AMR) systems, including TouchRead

, Vehicle Read, and
