Open the boot separator (

Loosen tensioning strap ; on both sides of

emergency spare wheel bag :.
Unhook retaining spring hooks = of tension-

ing strap ; from the retainers.
Remove emergency spare wheel bag : with

the emergency spare wheel.
Open emergency spare wheel bag : and

remove the emergency spare wheel.

"Fitting a wheel" section (
Inflating the collapsible emergency
spare wheel

Inflate the collapsible emergency spare
wheel using the tyre inflation compressor
before lowering the vehicle. The wheel rim
could otherwise be damaged.
!
Do not operate the tyre inflation compres-
sor for longer than eight minutes at a time
without a break. It may otherwise overheat.
The tyre inflation compressor can be oper-
ated again once it has cooled down.
Mount the collapsible emergency spare wheel
X
as described (
page 313).

The collapsible emergency spare wheel must
be mounted before it is inflated.
Remove the tyre inflation compressor from
X
the stowage space under the boot floor
(
page 288).

Emergency spare wheel
Pull plug ? and the filler hose out of the

housing.
Remove the cap from the valve on the col-
X
lapsible emergency spare wheel.
Screw union nut : on the filler hose onto the
X
valve.
Make sure on/off switch A of the tyre infla-
X
tion compressor is set to 0.
Insert plug ? into the socket of the cigarette
X
lighter or into a 12 V power socket in your
vehicle.
Turn the key to position 1 in the ignition lock
X
(
page 132).

Press on/off switch A on the tyre inflation
X
compressor to I.
The tyre inflation compressor is switched on.
The tyre is inflated. The tyre pressure is shown
on pressure gauge =.
Pump the tyre to the specified tyre pressure.

The specified tyre pressure is printed on the
yellow label of the emergency spare wheel.
When the specified tyre pressure has been
X
reached, press on/off switch A on the elec-
tric air pump to 0.
The tyre inflation compressor is switched off.
Turn the key to position 0 in the ignition lock.
X
If the tyre pressure is higher than the speci-
X
fied pressure, press button of pressure
release valve ; until the correct tyre pres-
sure has been reached.
Unscrew union nut : on the filler hose from
X
the valve.
Screw the valve cap onto the collapsible
X
emergency spare wheel valve again.
Stow plug ? and the filler hose in the lower
X
section of the compressor housing.
Stow the tyre inflation compressor in the vehi-
X
cle.
