SECTION 10: SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
Periodic Maintenance
The following maintenance should be performed about once a year, unless otherwise indicated below, to
ensure that the test set maintains proper output and operation. Units that are used and transported often
should have shorter maintenance intervals.
1.
Disconnect the unit from the input supply.
2.
Open all panels on the unit. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove any dust and debris from the interior
of the unit, including wiring and components. Use caution when cleaning printed circuit boards and
small components.
3.
Tighten all connections, especially those on transformers, contactors, and input and output
connectors. Special attention should be given to tightening all connections in the high current
section every six months or less. If the unit is transported often, this procedure should be
performed more often.
4.
Remove the front cover on the main circuit breaker and clean the main contacts. Replace the
contacts if they are beyond repair.
5.
Inspect the variable transformer brushes for wear. Replace if they appear worn.
6.
Perform basic operational tests to determine proper operation.
