Instructions for installation

1. The ILTO unit can be installed in a building service space, ironing
room, scullery, work room or similar space, either on a mounting rail
on the wall or on a stand built at the site. The vertical studs in the wall
structure must allow a distance of 838 mm between the fixing points.
The ventilation unit must not be secured to a wall that borders on
bedrooms.
2. Push the ventilation unit onto the wall brackets. Then secure the
unit with the self-tapping screws through the holes in the sides of
the wall stand. The space between the unit and the wall should be
acoustically insulated. Carefully insulate all the ducts with external
acoustic insulation run to and from the ventilation unit.
3. Arrange the condensate discharge hose, supplied, from the ven-
tilation unit to a drain gulley or use a stiff hose or a pipe having an
inner diameter of at least 12 mm for this purpose. Install the water
trap, having a minimum permissible water rise of 100 mm, in the
condensate discharge hose/pipe. A water trap can also be fabricated
by bending a copper tube into an S shape. The hose must not have
a second water trap or be run horizontally. Connect the hose to a
condensate drain outlet in the bottom of the ILTO unit. If no water
is present in the water trap, the airflow through the water pipe may
cause noise.
4. It is advisable to use a mounting frame for sealing the moisture
barrier in the tie beams. The mounting frame has a moisture
barrier which prevents moisture from entering the insula-
tion in the tie beams and stops the air from the loft from
coming down into the rooms. Cut out openings in the sealing
mat of the mounting frame to accommodate the ducts to be used.
The openings should be approx. 10 mm smaller in diameter. Secure
the mounting frame in the ceiling with screws through the holes on
the sides. Make sure that the plate is in the correct position when
you mount it. Tighten the plastic of the moisture barrier between the
mounting frame and the structural element of the building or fix it
in position with tape tightly against the mounting frame.
Duct insulation
Ducts in a cold space.
Insulation: 100 mm thick mineral
wool or the like.
The outside air duct and outgoing exhaust air
duct in warm spaces.
Insulation: 50 mm thick mineral wool.
To be drawn over with taped plastic foil used
as a vapour barrier.
Left-hand model, Model L
Cut out openings for the ducts in the sealing mat of the
mounting frame. The openings should be approx. 10 mm
smaller in diameter.
The warm supply air and extract air ducts
indoors do not require thermal insulation.
The horizontal stretch of the outside air duct must not be installed in the insulation of
the tie beams because condensation is likely to form on the cold surface of the duct if air
leaks in where the duct passes through the insulation.
The outside air duct must be insulated with at least 100 mm thick mineral
wool thermal insulation so that possible excess heat in the attic in the summertime
will not warm up the outside air taken into the ventilation unit.
