4. Place a container under the drain plug
for draining engine oil.
5. Remove the drain plug and gasket with a
wrench, and allow the oil to drain com­
pletely.
Wear protective glasses, if necessary.
6. Loosen the oil filter with an oil filter wrench
and remove it by hand.
7. Apply a little engine oil on the rubber
gasket of the new oil filter.
8. Screw the new filter into place and tighten
it by hand until the gasket contacts the
seat.
Then, give the filter additional 3/4 to one
turn to seat it.
9. Reinstall the drain plug and new gasket.
Tightening torque: 19.6 - 29.4 N.m
(14.4 - 21.6 ft-lb, 2.0 - 3.0 kgf-m)
CAUTION
Do not overtighten the oil filter and drain
plug. It could cause oil leakage.
10. Slowly pour engine oil.
For recommended engine oil and its ca­
pacity, see Section 15.
11. Install the oil filler cap by hand.
12. Wait a few minutes and check the engine
oil level.
13. Run the engine and check if engine oil is
leaking from the oil filter or drain plug.
Any leak indicates improper installation
of the oil filter or drain plug.
14. Turn the ignition off and wait a few min­
utes.
Check the engine oil level again and add
oil, if necessary.
