Calculating Measurement Uncertainty
Measurement uncertainty is a key parameter for noise figure measurements,
especially for a DUT with extremely low noise figure. During the product design
and manufacturing period, it is necessary to have a solid understanding of how
a number of variables affect the overall measurement uncertainty. These
contributors include the analyzer itself, the noise source, and the DUT.
The Noise Figure Measurement Application provides a measurement
uncertainty calculator to calculate the RSS (root sum square) measurement
uncertainty. Once you measure or identify the various device characteristics,
they can be entered into the analyzer and the RSS uncertainty will be
calculated.
