Testing Gas Inlet Pressure (Con't):
To measure running pressure:
7. With manometer still connected to port
demand – typically, opening several (3) hot water taps is a good heat load for max fire.
8. All measurements must be made under high-fire conditions. To override burner to operate at high-
fire, ensure that a heating load is available to absorb the MAX energy input of the product. With
the heating load calling for heat and the burner fired, enter the SET screen on the CONTROLLER.
a. To enter the SET screen;
i. Push and hold the "SET" button for 10 seconds
ii. Scroll down to "BURNER SETUP" and push "SET"
iii. Push "SET" to get a solid black arrow beside "BURNER ORIDE"
iv. Scroll "BURNER ORIDE" from "OFF" to "MAX"
v. Push "SET" to get a black outline only arrow
vi. Push and hold "SET" for 2 seconds to go back to the "SETUP MENU" screen
vii. Push and hold "SET" for 2 seconds to completely exit the "SETUP MENU"
Note: The controller Burner Override Mode for either MAX or MIN energy input will reset to "OFF"
(default) operating state after a 5 minutes.
9. With the burner in override, at MAX energy input, measure running pressure at Port
record the readings. Measurements should be between;
Fuel Type
Natural Gas
Propane
a. No noticeable pressure drop should be observed between the static gas pressure
measurement and the running gas pressure measurement. If running gas pressure is
different by more than 1" w.c. (2.5 mbar) review the gas sizing and components to ensure
sure correct sizing.
10. Turn off heating demand. Restore all external loads back to normal condition.
11. Close external gas shut-off valve.
12. Remove Manometer from measurement port
13. On the gas-valve, tighten screw inside measurement port
14. Open gas shut-off valve and check measurement port
syncFURNACE OD Instruction & Installation Manual – Rev 09
A CO Measurement must be taken before and after working on the water heater to
eliminate risks to health and to guarantee the performance of the system. Ensure CO
reading is less than 180 ppm @ MAX input. If CO is > 180 ppm follow the Combustion
setting instructions to reduce reading.
Ensure that there is NO open flame in the mechanical room prior testing the gas-valve.
Never purge a gas-line into a combustion chamber. Never use matches, candles, flame
or other sources of ignition for purposes of checking leakage. Use a soapy water
solution to check for leakage. Failure to follow this warning can result in fire, explosion,
personal injury or death.
