Duct Distribution Guide:
1. Duct joints shall be, as a rule, sealed to prevent
leakage of air which may cause objectionable
sound & in-efficient operation.
2. Round ducts (supply side) are more rigid and
reduce air restriction.
3. If concerns about noise are not a factor, duct
runs could be sized according to the smallest
permissible duct diameter which would be
governed only by the available external static
pressure limitation.
4. Use good installation and engineering practice
together with all codes and ordinances having
jurisdiction to ensure correct installation of duct
system.
5. Ducting & necessary
supplied and must be field verified.
When return air is drawn from a room, a negative pressure is created in the room. If a
fossil fuel appliance is operating in a room with negative pressure, flue products can be
pulled back down the vent pipe and in the room. This reverse flow of the flue gas may
result in incomplete combustion and the formation of carbon monoxide gas. This toxic
gas might then be distributed throughout the house by the air handler duct system.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INSTALLER TO ENSURE THAT THE FAN-COIL IS NOT
OPERATING SO TO DISTRIBUTE TOXIC GAS THROUGHOUT THE HOME
