Paper Jams

The printer is designed to function with minimal paper jams using Xerox-accepted media types only.
Other media types cause more frequent paper jams. If accepted media is jamming frequently in one
area, that area to be cleaned or repaired.

The printer is designed to function with minimal paper jams using Xerox
paper types can cause jams.
Adhere to the following:
• If supported paper jams frequently in one area, clean that area of the paper path.
• To avoid damage, always remove jammed paper carefully without tearing it. Try to remove the
paper in the same direction in which it normally moves through the printer. Even a small piece of
paper left in the printer can cause a jam.
• Do not reload paper that has jammed.
The following can cause paper jams:
• Selection of the incorrect paper type in the print driver.
• Usage of damaged paper.
• Usage of unsupported paper.
• Load the paper incorrectly.
• Overfill the tray.
• Adjust the paper guides improperly.
The following simple set of rules prevents most of the jams:
• Use only supported paper. For details, refer to the Recommended Media list at
printer-supplies/recommended-paper/enus.html.
• Follow proper paper handling and loading techniques.
• Always use clean, undamaged paper.

Probable Cause
The paper tray is too full.
The front edges of the paper are not even.
The media is moist from humidity.
Too much static electricity is present.
Unsupported media.
Humidity is too high for coated paper.

Solutions
Remove some of the paper. Do not load paper past the fill
line.
Remove the media, align the front edges, then reload it.
Remove the media from the tray, and replace it with new dry
media.
Try a new ream of paper.
Use only Xerox-approved media. Refer to Accepted Media.
Feed the paper one sheet at a time.
