NOTE
Ø With wet or loose soils the pre-tension of the coulter discs must not be too
high to make sure that the discs will not block up and wear unevenly.
Ø The coulter discs must be slightly preloaded at the cutting edge. However,
turning them easily without extra force must still be possible.
Ø If one disc rotates, the other one should also reliably turn as well.
Ø If the discs stop and block up because of incorrect preload, too loose soil or
wear, the seed will be placed in bunches.
This preload will reduce due to wear on the coulter discs or the discs will no longer
have contact.
Ø In this case replace the coulter discs and adjust the preload by removing the
washer again. Always remove the shims in pairs at the left and right under the
coulter disc bearing. Tighten the screws for the coulter disc bearings (socket
head cap screw M 16 x 1.5) with 130 - 150 Nm. Tighten the screws for the
coulter discs (6 x M 8 each) with 38 Nm.
The scrapers keep coulter discs and press rollers free of dirt.
Ø Check the function, wear and readjustment (scraper for coulter discs) of the
scrapers at regular intervals.
The edges of the scraper feature carbide tips.
The scraper must have uniform and slight contact over the entire range of the
coulter disc.
