Take into account the traffic situation

before calling up the stored speed.
If the stored speed is not known, store

the desired speed again.
& WARNING Risk of accident due to unex‐
pected acceleration by Distance Pilot
DISTRONIC
If Distance Pilot DISTRONIC no longer
detects a vehicle in front, it may unexpect‐
edly accelerate to the speed stored.
This speed may be too high for a turning
R
lane or an exit lane.
If driving in the right lane, this speed may
R
be so high that you pass vehicles driving
on the left (in countries where traffic
drives on the right).
If driving in the left lane, this speed may
R
be so high that you pass vehicles driving
on the right (in countries where traffic
drives on the left).
Always carefully observe the traffic condi‐
tions and be ready to brake at all times.
& WARNING Risk of accident due to Dis‐
tance Pilot DISTRONIC pulling away auto‐
matically
If Distance Pilot DISTRONIC performs an
automatic driving-off procedure, the vehicle
may accelerate unexpectedly.
Where necessary, brake the vehicle yourself
and take evasive action.
& WARNING Risk of accident due to Speed
Limit Pilot adapting the vehicle's speed
The speed adopted by the Speed Limit Pilot
may be too high or incorrect in some individ‐
ual cases, such as:
In the wet or in fog
R
When towing a trailer
R
Ensure that the driven speed complies with
traffic regulations.
Requirements
The vehicle's engine or must be switched on.
R
The electric parking brake must be released.
R
Parking Pilot is not being used to park the
R
vehicle or to exit from a parking space.
®
ESP
must be switched on, but not interven‐
R
ing.
The transmission must be in position D.
R
The driver door, front passenger door and the
R
rear doors must be closed.
The engine hood must be closed.
