8.1 INTRODUCTION
When the [ACT] key is pressed, the relay requests a password. The cursor is located at the beginning of the
third line. A password is may be entered just the [ENT] key pressed. If the [ENT] key is pressed without enter-
ing a password, the current privilege level is retained and the [ACT] command category menu is displayed.
When a password is entered, each character of the password is echoed on the display as an asterisk (*). When
the [ENT] key is pressed, the password is checked for validity. If the password is not valid, an error message is
displayed which must be cleared with the [CLR] key. When the error message has been cleared, the password
can be re-entered. If the password is valid, the privilege level is set accordingly.
NOTE:
1. The relay requests a password only if the privilege level is not CONTROL or MASTER when the [ACT] key
is pressed.
2. When the relay is shipped from the factory, the CONTROL, SETTING and MASTER passwords are loaded
with factory values. Selecting these passwords does not increase privilege level; it only allows them to be
changed to custom passwords. Higher privilege levels can be obtained only after the factory passwords
have been changed.
The following list describes the available LPS-D actions:
1. Disable outputs
2. Trip breaker
3. Relay test
4. LUI test
5. Playback
6. Enable/Disable passwords

The display will be similar to the settings display. The first line will display ACTIONS when in the Actions menu.
The next three lines will contain the ACTIONS commands. Other menu items are selected by pressing the [↑]
and [↓] keys. To go directly to a menu item, type the menu item number. The menu item number will appear in
the right corner of the top line. If the number is valid when the [ENT] key is pressed, the cursor will be posi-
tioned on that action category. If the number is invalid when the [ENT] key is pressed, an error message will be
displayed which must be cleared by the [CLR] key.
When an action category has been selected, press the [ENT] key. The first item in the selected category is dis-
played. The displayed list can be scrolled through with the arrow keys. To select another actions category,
press the [ACT] key and repeat the previous steps.

This command inhibits the relay from energizing any of the Digital Output contacts except for the critical alarm
and power supply alarm outputs.
The relay will ask whether to disable the outputs. Press the [3/N] key for NO or the [1/Y] for YES followed by
the [ENT] key. If NO is selected, CANCELED is displayed and no LPS-D action occurs. If YES is selected, two
tests are performed: CONTROL or MASTER privilege level is verified and communication must not be in the
process of performing an action. If the test fails then an error message is displayed and the action is not per-
formed. If the test passes, the action is performed, OUTPUTS DISABLED is displayed, and the status LED on
