10. Carefully tilt the fan housing toward the rear of the computer and disengage
11. Lift the fan housing up and out of the chassis.
12. If you are instructed to return the microprocessor fan assembly, follow all

7. Remove the front adapter-retention bracket (see "Removing the front
adapter-retention bracket" on page 79).
Important: When disconnecting cables, note the cable routing and connector
labels for use during installation.
8. Disconnect the fan power cable from the system board (see "System-board
internal connectors" on page 7 for the location of the microprocessor fan
connector).
9. From the front of the computer, press down and inward on the two retention
tabs that secure the top of the fan housing to the chassis (see Figure 17).

Note: If the computer is lying on its side, the internal speaker can slide out of
its retaining tabs when the fan housing is removed. If the speaker is loose,
remove it from the computer and store it in a safe place until it can be
reinstalled.
