REPLACING THE SAW BLADE

WARNING! Use special care when unpacking or replacing the Band Saw
blade. The Blade can be under tension and may suddenly uncoil. Wear
ANSI-approved safety glasses under a full face shield and heavy-duty work
gloves to avoid an injury.
1.
Raise the Body Frame to its full vertical
position. Turn the Support Plate (#127)
clockwise until it firmly locks into the Body
Frame and insert the Locking Pin to lock the
Body Frame in position (Fig. 26).
2.
Release the Saw Blade tension by turning the
Blade Tension Adjusting Knob (#91).
3.
Remove the Screw (#142) and Flat Washer
(#141) to open the Blade Back Cover (#82)
and access the Saw Blade (Fig. 27).
4.
Slip the old Saw Blade off the Upper Blade
Wheel (#83), Lower Blade Wheel (#63), and
out of the Blade Guide Assemblies (Fig. 27-1).
5.
Place the new Saw Blade between each of the
Blade Guide Assemblies and around the
Upper Blade Wheel and Lower Blade Wheel.
IMPORTANT! The teeth must point
downward towards the motor (Fig. 27-2).
6.
Tighten the tension on the new Saw Blade by
turning the Blade Tension Adjusting Knob.
7.
Close the Blade Back Cover and secure with
the Screw and Flat Washer.
CHOOSING A BAND SAW BLADE
The choice of the blade's tooth pitch, the number of teeth per inch, is dictated
by the material's thickness. Thinner workpieces require a greater number of
teeth per inch to properly cut than a thicker workpiece would need.
