Statutory warnings
These instructions must be read in con
junction with the OptimAir blower and
tester instructions, and in combination
with any of the head tops described
below provide protection to EN 12941,
OptiHood Demi and OptiHood Full TH2,
OptiTop TH3.
Hoods are designed for use by compe
tent personnel familiar with workplace
hazards and only in conjunction with the
OptimAir 3000 blower unit.
Do not use in atmospheres with modi
fied oxygen content [permissible range
19 – 23 % see local regulation] or if
contamination levels are likely to be
immediately dangerous to health.
Do not use the equipment if the head
cap or air hose is damaged, check for
cracks splits and tears, which will cause
leakage.
Protection will only be obtained if the
unit is fitted correctly; hair, spectacle
side arms etc must not intrude into the
face seal.
Protection levels may be reduced if wind
speed exceeds 2 meters per second
and at very high work rates pressure in
the device may become negative at
peak inhalation flow. In such event other
forms of respiratory protective should
be considered.
1. Approval Information
All hoods approved to EN 12941, as marked,
via notified body BIA CE 0121
Helmet approved to EN 397, as marked, via
notified body Inspec CE 0194
Visor approved to EN 166, as marked, via
notified body Inspec CE 0194

2. Pre Use
2.1 OptiHood Demi and Full
Prior to first use the head harness must be
adjusted to fit by sliding the nap strap clip to
the appropriate snug fit and the hose con
nection made.
2.2 OptiTop
Assemble hood to helmet & air management
ring (see sketches). Then assemble connec
tor to rear of management ring trapping and
sealing hood to ring, finally tighten clamp on
hose with the correct orientation between
the hood and blower unit.
Always check airflow from the blower prior to use.
3. Wearing
3.1 OptiHood Demi (Fig.1 3)
Pull the face piece over the head so that the
visor is in front of the face and arrange the
elastic face seal under the chin. If necessary
adjust the over head [1] and nape straps [2]
for a comfortable gapless fit between the
face and the hood, it must be ensured that
the elasticated edge of the hood fits snugly
against the skin particularly down the sides
of the face adjacent to the ears.
3.2 OptiHood Full (Fig. 4 6)
Don the face piece as for the OptiHood Demi
then adjust the drawstring for a comfortable
snug but not tight fit around the neck always
ensure that you can place your fingers under
the drawstring against your throat without
force or discomfort.
3.3 OptiTop (Fig. 7 9)
Adjust the headband such that the hood fits
comfortably and adjust the drawstring for a
