8 - GENERAL DIRECTIONS

This manual contains important information on safety for installation, operation and maintenance of the
equipment.
Follow the directions and safety instructions (marked by the writing CAUTION and by the danger
sign) to avoid risks to people and things. GEL cannot be held responsible for any damages
caused by these risks.
Before using the pump in conditions different from the ones specified in this manual, please
consult GEL Export Department and ask for a written authorisation.
IMPORTANT:
- Install the metering pump in such a way that it can be easily reached for maintenance operations!
Never obstruct the installation place of the metering pump !
- Pump must be controlled by an external control system. If there is no water, dosing must be stopped.
- Before any maintenance operation, always drain connection hoses of the metering pump !
- Always empty and thoroughly wash the hoses which have been used with particularly aggressive
chemicals ! Wear suitable protection equipment during maintenance !
- Installation and electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified technician, by observing the
instructions indicated in this manual.
- To avoid dangers of electrical shocks, the metering pump should not be opened by non-qualified staff.
- Before any maintenance operation, unplug the unit. Do not pull the power supply cable for unplugging
the unit.
- To avoid damaging the electrical circuit, never connect the pump directly in parallel to inductive loads
(e.g. motors, etc.), but always use a remote control switch to separate the peaks due to the switching
on/off of the other equipments.
- Assistance and maintenance of the pump and related accessories must always be carried out by
qualified staff !
- Carefully read chemical specifications of the product to dose !
Packaging disposal
- Do not leave packaging material unattended, as potential source of danger (fire, children or animals
choking).
- Divide packaging material according to type (carton, plastic film, etc.)
- Packaging should be disposed of in compliance with the national and/or local regulations in force.

9 - INSTALLATION

9.1 DIRECTIONS FOR PROPER INSTALLATION
The pump must be installed by qualified staff who shall issue a certificate of proper installation in
compliance with the national regulations.
9.2 HOW TO PREPARE THE INSTALLATION
To install and put the pump into operation, follow the four main steps below:
- Installation of the pump
- Installation of hydraulic components (hoses, level probe, injection valve)
- Electrical installation (power mains connection and priming)
- Programming.
Before starting installation, check if all precautions for the installer's safety have been taken.
Protection Equipment
ALWAYS wear protection masks, gloves, safety goggles and if necessary further Personal Protection
Equipment during all installation stages and while handling chemicals!
