CONTROLS
• After starting up the burner, check the safety devices (flame
detector, lock-out system, thermostats)
• The flame control device should trip if the flame extinguishes
during operation (this check should be made after at least 1
minute after ignition)
• The burner should be able to lock out and remain locked when,
during the ignition sequence in the time pre-set by the control
box, the flame does not regularly appear. The lock-out causes
the immediate stop of the motor and burner and the switching
on of the corresponding lock-out light indication. To check the
efficiency of the flame detector and lock-out system, proceed
as follows:
- Start the burner.
- After at least one minute from ignition, remove the flame
detector by sliding it out of its housing, cover it to simulate
flame failure (use a rag to cover the opening on the flame
detector). The burner flame must go out. The control box
locks out within the time set by the program. Reset the con-
trol box only by manually pressing the appropriate button.
- To check for the thermostats' efficiency, make the burner
work until the water inside the boiler reaches a temperature
of at least 50°C. Then, use the thermostat control knob to
reduce the temperature until you perceive an opening click
and the burner stopping at the same time. The thermostat
should trip within a maximum tolerance of 5 to 10 °C in
respect to the control thermometer (boiler thermometer); if
not, change the setting on the thermostat scale to match
that of the thermometer.
AIR REGULATION ON THE COMBUSTION HEAD
The combustion head has a regulation device that allows the air
passage between the disc and the combustion head to be opened
or closed.
You are thus able to obtain, closing the passage, high pressure
upstream of the disk even at low flow rates.
The high speed and turbulence of the air provides for its greater
penetration into the fuel and therefore an excellent mixture and
flame stability.High air pressure upstream of the disk may be ne-
cessary to prevent flame fluctuations, this is particularly essential
when the burner works on the furnace that is pressurised and/or
at a high thermal load.
Therefore, the air regulation device on the combustion head
should be put in such a position as to always obtain a decidedly
high air pressure value behind the disk.
Correct the position of the device that closes the air of the combu-
stion head, moving it forward or backward, in order to obtain an air
flow suitable for the supply with the air damper considerably open.
In order to achieve this, you need to secure the device in an inter-
mediate position on the head air closure and use the air damper
device to increase the flow to the fan intake. Obviously, this condi-
tion must occur when the burner is working at the maximum power
required by the system.
X= Combustion head-disk distance; adjust the distance X fol-
lowing the indications below:
• Adjust distance X of the air regulation ring (2) according to the
indications in the table.
• Tighten screw (1).
