The AC 800F has no safety grounding (device of protection class II).
Grounding to avoid hazardous voltages, according to the German VDE
standards. The additional functional grounding drains high-frequency
interference. The terminal for safety grounding (protective earth) is
marked with the symbol
In redundancy mode, the passive AC 800F is called the Secondary.
The serial module is designed for connecting intelligent field instruments
with a serial interface. This applies especially to the Modbus protocol.
When being locked, the slide lock signals to the AC 800F that a module
has been plugged in and fastened with screws. Locking the slide lock
means commissioning the module.
The AC 800F basic unit has seven slots subdivided into the following
functional groups: P (Power), E (Ethernet) and F (fieldbus modules).
The AC 800F slot number consists of the functional group and the
number. The following slots are available: slot P for the power supply
module, slots E1 and E2 for a maximum of two Ethernet modules, and
slots F1 ... F4 for a maximum of four fieldbus modules.
For long fiber optic links first a cable without connectors is laid, for
mechanical reasons. Pig-tails are spliced to this cable in a second
operation. Pig-tails are short fiber optic cables of around 10 m with a
connector at one end. The splicing points have to be protected by a case,
the so-called splice box. Splice boxes are available for wall mounting and
ceiling suspension, and in 19" size.
→ Splicing, → pig-tail
Action of welding two fiber optic cables together. For long fiber optic
cable links ready-made short cables with a connector at one end are
spliced to a long middle piece. This method is easier than mounting the
connectors on site.
→ network concentrator
Adjusted with the aid of the coding switch at the top edge of the Ethernet
module. In switch positions 1 .. 9 and A ... F the station number is the last
digit of a standard IP address.
→ IP address
Operation system from ABB. Using a Symphony operation system
enables you to operate several Freelance 2000 systems on the next
lower level.
System bus linking AC 800F, FieldController, process, engineering and
operator stations with each other. Based on DIN/ISO 8802, Part 3
(IEEE 802.3). Serial transmission principle. Suitable for working with
different transmission media (two different coaxial cables, twisted-pair
cable, fiber optic cable).
according to 417-IEC-5019-a.
