Charge-air coolant – Draining
Preconditions
• Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
Spare parts
Designation / Use
Sealing ring
Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
WARNING
Charge-air coolant – Draining
1. Provide an appropriate container to drain the
coolant into.
2. Turn breather valve of filler neck on coolant
expansion tank counterclockwise to first stop and
allow pressure to escape.
3. Continue to turn breather valve counterclockwise
and remove.
4. Draw off precipitated corrosion inhibitor oil from the
expansion tank through filler neck.
5. Open drain plugs and drain coolant at the following
points:
• at the LT cooling pump;
• at the coolant line (customer's equipment).
6. Draining of residual coolant:
• at charge-air cooler.
7. Screw in drain plugs with new sealing rings.
8. Fit breather valve onto filler neck and close it.

• Let the engine cool down.
• Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.
