3.2 Maintenance
Regular maintenance and care will increase the service life of your RACO electric cylinder. Mainten-
ance depends on the field of application and environmental conditions.
RACO electric cylinders of the 6 COMPACT series have a sealing ring between the thrust tube and
the protective tube which prevents the penetration of water, dust and humidity.
To prevent problems, hazards and damage, RACO electrical cylinders must be checked for proper
function at regular intervals depending on the operating conditions. The area between the stripper
(guide cap) and the thrust tube that moves in relation to this must be cleaned in particular to carry out
a visual inspection for damage.
Motor
RACO special motors are maintenance-free. The maintenance instructions provided by the gear or
gear motor supplier must be heeded wherever gears are attached.
Spindle-nut system
The cylinder type 6 (compact series in size 2, 4 & 6), especially the spindle-nut system is equipped
with a long life lubrication. A Re-lubrication of the spindle-nut system is not necessary for the estim-
ated operation period. The service life of the spindle-nut system can be increased by relubrication
(grease exchange), however.
Only for the cylinder type 6 (compact series in size 7 /T6Q7) a re lubrication is recommend. Depend-
ing on the number of cycle => 50.000 or after 3 years operation the grease can be put onto the actu-
ator via the nipple on the Rod eye. To make sure that the grease will cover the whole screw, a full
stroke operation had to carry out.
Grease change
In regular operation, a grease change should be carried out every 4 - 6 years.
If operated rarely, the grease should usually be changed after 8 – 10 years.
We recommend replacing the sealing elements when the grease is changed.
Please see the enclosed sheets for instructions related to the mechanical and electrical installation.
Danger!
Disconnect the RACO electrical cylinder from the power supply before
starting and maintenance or care work, and secure the system against
being switched on accidentally. Loads on the RACO electrical cylinder
must be secured.
In the event of mechanical damage, the device can be exchanged at a reasonable price for a replace -
ment device, preventing long repair times. The following replacement assemblies are available:
1) Thrust unit complete
2) Motor complete (according the execution with or without sensoric)
3) RACO position sensoric type EPS complete
4) Separate proximity switches
For the standard design "T6C..." the belt drive comprising the two pulley discs and the toothed belt
must be mounted for adaption between the motor and the thrust-retraction unit.
