The function test must be carried out in inching mode to prevent damage if the limit switches are not
adjusted correctly. A separate grounding conductor must be connected for potential equalisation.
Damage hazard!
Electrical cylinders must not be used in systems that are protected by a "cathodic
electro-chemical corrosion protection". Exceptions are only possible after consulta-
tion with the manufacturer.
2.3.3 Aligning the RACO electrical cylinder
Following electrical installation, the RACO electrical cylinder must now be aligned.
Danger of damage!
Radial and torsion forces acting on the axis of the RACO electrical cylinder are not per-
mitted! Align the RACO electrical cylinder so that there are no radial and torsion forces
acting on the axis.
Align the RACO electrical cylinder as follows:
Loosen the screws attaching the bearing blocks to the system, and the lock-nut on the fork
a)
head. Extend and retract the RACO electrical cylinder several times in "typing" operation until it
has seated properly and shows no more lateral movement.
Using a suitable measuring device, check that the RACO electrical cylinder is correctly aligned.
b)
If the RACO electrical cylinder is not correctly aligned, you must use other suitable methods to align
the RACO electrical cylinder correctly.
Now tighten the screws attaching the bearing blocks, and the lock-nut on the fork head.
2.2.4 Commissioning
Only put the product into operation when it is established that the final product (a machine or construc-
tion for example) the RACO-product is assembled in corresponds to the country-specific regulations,
safety instructions and norms of application.
Commissioning may only be carried out if the RACO electrical cylinder:
a)
does not exceed the nominal current in the loaded condition (see rating plate), observe the
correct switch-on time/operating mode,
b)
is properly installed the built-in or external end-position switches are connected and adjusted,
c)
the whole travel range has been tested in "typing" operation or – if possible – at low speed,
d)
has been checked for proper condition with regard to installation and
e)
the swivel foot brackets and the rod eye have been properly lubricated during installation.
f)
Before putting into operation make sure all gaskets and fasteners are leak-proof.
Danger of damage!
Mechanical end-positions may not be approached during "typing" operation!
Ensure that the RACO electrical cylinder is switched off by the system controls on
reaching the end-position switch.
