For torque-free installation, the electrical cylinder must be fixed at the respective attachment points in
the given set-up (swivel joint yokes, joints, pivots or flange). Fittings and base must be dimensioned
for the high forces expected during operation and be sufficiently protected against becoming loose.
During installation, make sure the cylinder is installed absolutely flush to the attachment structure. The
movement curve over the whole stroke in both axes at right angles to the thrust tube must be con -
sidered and aligned carefully. RACO supplies respective bearing bases, cardanic rings or joints to
keep the clearances.
The moving parts that are connected to the actuator on the thrust tube (either directly or via an
actuator) must have ball bearings or be guided. Attachment parts such as rod ends, pivots etc. must
be lubricated before installation.
If the device is fitted with a non self-locking spindle system (e.g. ball screw drive), you must make sure
that the loads are cushioned when working on the device.
The RACO electrical cylinder must work in true alignment. To achieve this, carry out the following
steps:
Insert the electrical cylinder with its pivot into the bearing (eye or trunnion) provided. Tighten the
attachment screws on the swivel foot bracket Z/SLB 0101 or Z/SLB 0102.
Use the rod end on the actuator to connect the thrust tube and secure it using the bolt.
The actuator must have enough clearance at the side and must never collide inside the rod end
when the cylinder is completely extended or retracted.
If the thrust tube can only be connected with the actuator after the RACO electrical cylinder has
been extended, this step is only carried out after the electrical installation of motor and limit
switch.
Note!
Note the position of the lubricating nipples and terminal boxes (if fitted) when installing
the RACO electrical cylinder, so that they are always easily accessible for maintenance
of the machine or system.
2.2.3.2 Electrical Installation
Connect to the power supply according to the specifications on the type plate.
Danger caused by electricity or voltage!
Severe injuries up to death.
Before working on the electric installation interrupt electric power supply and secure it
against resetting.
The electrical connection may only be executed by a specialist. The terminal box
may only be opened in case it is assured there is no voltage.
Danger through electric current or voltage!
Electrical installation may only be carried out by qualified staff. The terminal box may
only be opened if it is guaranteed not to be live.
