The connection must be carried out as a safe electrical connection, a safe grounding conductor must
be connected. During connection work, always follow the safety instructions and any other relevant
documents provided.
Note!
The RACO electrical cylinder may only be installed and connected if the frequency
and voltage specifications on the type plate correspond to those of the mains network
and the RACO electrical cylinder is not damaged in any way.
The stoppers on the terminal boxes are only for safety during transport. During commissioning on site
they must be replaced by suitable threaded connections and fasteners. When setting the equipment
up in damp locations or outdoors, make sure the suitable protective rating is available. Use suitable
cable screw connections, check terminal box seals.
In the case of three-phase motors, the cylinder extends when the phases L1/L2/L3 are connected to
U/V/W on the terminal board (direction of rotation of the motor for extending movement). Please check
the direction of movement in inching mode. RACO special motors have been designed for use with a
frequency converter. Cooling air must be able to flow freely around the motor.
The bi-metal trigger in the reversing contactor combination must be set according to the specifications
on the type plate. This is the only way to ensure that the electrical cylinder triggers in time and protects
the motor winding without installing additional excess load protection (e.g. EPS06 with rpm monitoring
feature).
If a different motor variant is used in place of the RACO 3-phase motor, see the respective separate
technical description.
Connection and adjustment of the different device attachments (limit switch on the RACO motor, prox-
imity switch, potentiometer, angle of rotation sensor converter / type DMU, path sensors / type: EPS,
angular momentum sensors / type: DIG) must be carried out according to the respective instructions.
Attention!
The device must not be put into operation without stop position limitation (limit switch)
being connected. If there is no stop position limitation included in the scope of supply,
the function has to be carried out on site through external limit switches.
For fail proof operation, make sure wiring is in line with EMC requirements (shielding, twisting, cables
routed separately from potentially interfering cables).
Damage hazard!
Mechanical stop positions must not be approached in inching mode!
Make sure that the RACO electrical cylinder is switched off by the system when the
limit switch is reached.
Danger of crushing!
Danger of crushing from extending cylinder!
Keep a safe distance between the RACO electrical cylinder and the mass being moved.
