2.2.6 Maintenance
To prevent problems, hazards and damage, RACO electrical cylinders must be checked for proper
function at regular intervals depending on the operating conditions. The area between the stripper
(guide cap) and the thrust tube that moves in relation to this must be cleaned in particular to carry out
a visual inspection for damage.
Motor
RACO special motors are maintenance-free. The maintenance instructions provided by the gear or
gear motor supplier must be heeded wherever gears are attached.
Spindle-nut system
The cylinder type 6 (compact series), especially the spindle-nut system is equipped with a long life lub -
ricantion. A Re-lubrication of the spindle-nut system is not necessary for the estimated operation
period. The service life of the spindle-nut system can be increased by relubrication (replacement),
however.
Only for the compact series in size 7 (T6Q7) a re lubrication is recommend. Depending on the number
of cycle => 10.000 or after 3 years operation the grease can be put onto the actuator via the nipple on
the Rod eye. To make sure that the grease will cover the whole screw, a full stroke operation had to
carry out.
The installation position does not present any limitations in terms of lubrication. The devices can be in-
stalled in any position.
The electrical cylinders with trapezoidal thread spindle are usually equipped with a spring gear as a
seat for the spindle nut. Mechanical limitation of the spring travel prevents the springs moving to
"block". If electrical cylinders with spring gears certified to the ATEX directive are supplied, they must
be checked in the plant after 6 years of operation.
Note!
Further details of the different equipment variants are described separately in the fol-
lowing chapters.
