The equipment must always be disconnected from the power supply before electrical connections are
loosened. Light arcs that damage people and contacts can be produced in unfavourable cases. After
the supply voltages have been switched off and plug-type connectors loosened, wait at least two
minutes before touching live equipment parts or connections: e.g. the connection terminals of the inter-
mediate circuits on converters can be live for up to two minutes after disconnection.
Perceptible changes compared with normal operation in terms of increased temperatures, vibrations,
noise and so on are an indication that function is impaired. To avoid problems that can lead directly or
indirectly to personal and property damage, the servicing staff responsible must be informed.
If in doubt, switch the RACO electrical cylinders off immediately.
2.2.2.2 Safety symbols on the RACO electrical cylinder
The following safety symbols are applied to the RACO electrical cylinder.
Danger!
During operation, the drive unit can have hot surfaces in accordance with
its protective rating. The surface temperature can reach 100°C. For safety
reasons, the temperature should be measured before touching; wait until
the temperature has fallen to 40°C.
Explosive areas!
If the RACO electrical cylinder is provided with an explosion symbol, this
means that it may also be used in an area subject to the risk of explosion.
You should also note the separate, special connection conditions. Further
information on this is provided in the operating instructions of the motor
contained in the appendix to these operating instructions.
If special dangers are created due to the installation of the RACO electrical cylinder, the system
manufacturer is responsible for indicating these by means of pictograms, and adding them to the
operating instructions.
If the safety symbol on the RACO electrical cylinder is covered or becomes illegible due to dirt or
weather effects, clean the safety symbol or apply a new one.
2.2.2.3 Transport
Inspect the delivery immediately on receipt for possible transport damage. Any damage must be
reported immediately to the transport company.
Lifting equipment should be attached only to suitable points of RACO electrical cylinders such as the
fork head, central pivot, eyes etc.
Use only suitable transport equipment of adequate size and capacity.
Danger of damage!
Secure the RACO electrical cylinder during transport and lifting against impacts to
the push/pull tube and the terminal boxes. Such impacts can lead to damage or
even destruction of the cylinder.
