Do not enable PoE on network ports unless you intend to power a
third-party device. If you enable PoE under other conditions, power can
damage the device.
Configuring for a Directly-Connected MAP
When you set the port type for use by locally connected MAPs, you must
specify the PoE state (enabled or disabled) of the port. If you enable PoE
on a port connected to another device, physical damage to the device
can result.
To set a port for a locally-connected MAP, use the following command:
set port type ap port-list
model {ap2750 | mp-52 | mp-101 | mp-122 | mp-241 | mp-252 |
mp-262 | mp-341 | mp-352}
poe {enable | disable}
[radiotype {11a | 11b| 11g}]
You must specify a port list of one or more port numbers, the MAP model
number, and the PoE state.
MAP access point models AP2750, MP-241 and MP-341 have a single
radio that can be configured for 802.11a or 802.11b/g. MAP models
MP-52, MP-252, MP-262, and MP-352 have two radios. One radio is
always 802.11a. The other radio is 802.11b/g, but can be configured for
802.11b or 802.11g exclusively. If the country of operation specified by
the set system countrycode command does not allow 802.11g, the
default is 802.11b.
MAP radios configured for 802.11g also allow associations from 802.11b
clients by default. To disable support for 802.11b associations, use the
set radio-profile 11g-only command on the radio profile that contains
the radio.
You cannot configure port 7 or 8 as a MAP port on the WX1200. To
manage a MAP access point on a WX4400 switch, configure a
Distributed MAP connection on the switch. (See "Configuring for a
Distributed MAP" on page 66.)
MAP model MP-262 requires an external antenna for the 802.11b/g
radio. You must specify the antenna model. MAP models MP-341 and
MP-352 have an internal 802.1b/g antenna as well as a connector for an
external antenna, so use of an external antenna is optional on these
