3.3. Current Sensor

The energy meters come with CS to be installed with the E-Mon® Class 6000 meter. The meter
has dedicated terminals for connecting current sensor. The current sensor shall be installed
with the meter for Current measurement functions.
The E-Mon Energy meters support low voltage current sensors. Users can configure the CS
with the E-Mon® energy meter. The CS is mounted with the power line and as current passes
through the magnetic aperture, it induces a flux in the core. This magnetic flux flows through
the sensor element resulting in a voltage generation which is proportional to the magnetic
flux. The CS offers a high system accuracy and better productivity.
Details on the available versions of current sensors is available in Table 3. Current Sensors for
E-Mon Energy Meter. The Current Sensor shall be commissioned for the appropriate current
rating with the E-Mon energy meter. The E-Mon Energy meter uses low voltage current
sensors for measurement. The meters are tested for current sensor with output of 0.333 VAC
and an input current ranging from 20 A – 5000 A depending upon installation.
The E-Mon energy meter operates with current sensors which require mounting and
connection.
Mount and configuration of the current sensor shall be done during meter installation.
Refer Table 4 for specifications
The current sensor configuration is accessible in front panel menu. Refer section 4.4.3
All CS are released with a tested label which can serve as the basis of calibration during
meter commissioning.
The CS shall connect with the meter via dedicated ports available at the top of the meter
body.
Once the rotating terminals are arranged, the connections shall be made using L1, L2 and
L3 terminals.
For setting up of the CS ratio and measurement configuration, kindly refer to the CS guide
or trained personnel. Please refer to Table 1 for the guide on Current Sensors.
