Unbalance Compensation
This setpoint enables or disables unbalance compensation. The choice of values dis-
played by this setpoint is dependent on the Installation Type setpoint value. There-
fore, the Installation Type setpoint must be set to the correct value before setting the
Unbalance Compensation Setpoint. When enabled, you can choose whether the
control device compensates an ungrounded wye capacitor/reactor bank for the system
voltage imbalance plus the inherent capacitor bank imbalances ("Cap Line" / "Reactor
Line"), or for inherent capacitor bank imbalances only ("Cap Only" / "Reactor Only").
For grounded wye capacitor banks, unbalance compensation may be "Enabled" or
"Disabled". The default value is "Disabled."
Lockout Level (Volts or %)
This is the voltage level or tap-point voltage percent imbalance at which the control
device isolates and locks out the bank or reactor after capacitor unit or reactor turn
failures. This protects the surviving capacitor units or the reactor from overvoltage
which exceeds their rating. For more information on setting this value, see the Estab-
lishing the Settings sections in this instruction sheet for your installation type.
For an ungrounded, wye-connected capacitor bank or reactor, the setpoint value range
is 0 to 9999 Volts, in increments of one volt. The default value is zero volts.
For a grounded, wye-connected capacitor bank, the setpoint range is 0 to 655.39% of
the tap-point-to-neutral voltage in increments of 0.01%.
Lockout Time Delay (seconds)
This is the amount of time the neutral-to-ground voltage must exceed the "Lockout
Level" setpoint before the control device isolates and locks out the bank or reactor. The
setpoint value range is from 0.2 to 30 seconds, in 0.1 second increments. The default
value is 10 seconds. The Lockout Time Delay setpoint value includes the total time to
qualify and the time (0.1 second) to update the control's Input/Output states. Therefore,
the qualifying time is determined by subtracting 0.1 second from the setpoint value.
Alarm Level (Volts or %)
This is the voltage level or tap-point voltage percent imbalance at which the control
device issues an optional alarm. The alarm is based on the loss of fewer capacitor units
or reactor turns than the number for lockout. For more information on setting this
value, see the Establishing the Settings section in this instruction sheet for your instal-
lation type.
For an ungrounded, wye-connected capacitor bank or reactor, the setpoint value range
is 0 to 9999 Volts, in increments of one volt. The default value is zero volts.
