This section provides an overview of the planning requirements for Dell EMC Disk
Library for mainframe (DLm) installation.
This section reviews Dell EMC responsibilities and outlines your responsibilities as a
DLm user for the following DLm systems:
DLm8500 with Data Domain and ECS

DLm8500 with PowerMax and ECS

Note:
This document contains information about the VTEC cabinet of a
DLm8500. Refer to the respective site planning guides for PowerMax, Data
Domain, and ECS.

Note:
Inform Dell EMC of any labor union-based restrictions or security clearance
requirements before delivery.
The DLm systems must be installed in a properly equipped computer room with
controlled temperature and humidity, proper airflow and ventilation, proper power and
grounding, system cable routing facilities, fire equipment, and so on. A raised floor is
recommended, although it is not required. One or more planning sessions with your
Systems Engineer and Customer Support Representative must close all the details
that are related to installation.
The following table lists the responsibility summary at the first planning session.

capability, and service clearances as required.
Participate in planning sessions as required to
ensure a smooth and uncomplicated
installation.
