About DVD Media
When Using DVD-RAM Disks
NOTE
[Confirm Region] will also be displayed if a DVD-Video with one region code is
inserted into a drive for which another region code has already been set
To write a file to a DVD-RAM disk, logical formatting is required.
It is possible to write a file to a logically formatted DVD-RAM disk in the same way as writing
to a floppy disk or hard disk.
For details, refer to [start] - [All Programs] - [DVD-RAM] - [DVD-RAM Driver] - [Using DVD-
RAM disc].
NOTE
If you write using B's Recorder, because the format is different, it will no longer be
possible to write using applications other than B's Recorder. To enable writing, physi-
cal formatting is required. (
Logical formatting type
There are two types of formatting for DVD-RAM disks: UDF (Universal Disk Format) and
FAT32.
We recommend that you choose the formatting type depending on the application.
UDF1.5
This is the standard format type for DVD-RAM. Data can be transferred between different
operating systems. Data with large file sizes (images or audio data) can be read and writ-
ten at high speed. We recommend this format when using DVD-RAM for storing data.
UDF2.0
This format is designed to be used with DVD Video recorders that use the DVD Forum's
video recording standard.
*1
FAT32 format
• This is the additional format type on Windows 95 (OSR2) / Windows 98 / Windows Me /
Windows 2000 / Windows XP.
