A security system for protecting the computer from unauthorized access via the Internet or
other external networks. The firewall regulates the data exchanged between the computer and
the external network, so that only approved data can pass through.
Windows Firewall is provided in Windows XP.
A device for recording data. A FLASH card has the same characteristics as a hard disk in that
data is not erased even when the power is turned off, but because it has no mechanical
components, it can be used more easily than a hard disk. There are various types of FLASH
cards, including "Compact Flash" and "Smart Media", which can be used in a wide range of
devices like portable computers and digital cameras.
A function that enables the current working conditions to be stored on the hard disk when the
power is turned off, so that when the power resumes, the working conditions immediately
before the power was turned off will be displayed on the screen.
A specified function executed by pressing two or more allocated keys in combination.
(There may be a "Hotkey" function, which executes a specified function with a single key.)
One example of a "Hotkey" operation on this computer: pressing the Fn key and the F9 key
simultaneously displays a pop-up window revealing the remaining battery power. The [Fn]
key can be locked in place, and pop-up windows can be set to "display" or "no display"
