A device for adding a wide range of functions to a computer. Examples are modem cards,
network cards, FLASH Memory cards, and SCSI cards. PC Cards are designated as Type I,
Type II, or Type III, depending on their thickness. Also known as PCMCIA.
The PC Card Slot on this computer is compatible with Type I and Type II PC Cards.
A window that appears automatically when a specified screen is displayed or when the cursor
is moved to a particular position, etc. This window displays information including explanations
of how to use the window, or gives a menu of functions that can be selected. In many cases,
this window only appears for a short time and disappears when it is no longer needed.
On this computer, the term "Pop-up Window" also refers to windows that are displayed when
a specified key is pressed in combination with the Fn key.
Common rules required to conduct data communications between computers. To enable data
interactions between different computers, those computers must follow the same rules; for
example, in terms of the timing of data transmission and reception, or the format of the
information sent and received. For the Internet, a protocol called TCP/IP (Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol) is used by a wide range of software to send and receive data.
