This section explains the system configurations when the modem function is used to perform data communication with a
target device via public lines.
System configuration when performing data communication with
target device
The following shows the system configuration examples used for data communications between a target device and CPU
module using the MC protocol/nonprocedural protocol/bidirectional protocol of C24.

• The public lines indicated above are compatible with the office telephone system as well.
• For connection to a target device or C24, the digital line (ISDN) can be replaced by the public line.
When connecting via a digital line, a TA (terminal adapter) and a DSU (digital service module) are used instead of a
modem.
