If the battery is in a discharged condition
11.6 volts or less,
it should be charged.
To
charge battery, plug the adapter end of the
Lawn-Boy charger supplied into the recepticle
at the handle console and plug the charger into
a 1 15 volt AC outlet.
SAFETY WARNING: When charging
the battery use only the Lawn-Boy
charger supplied with your mower.
if proper
charger is not used, damage may occur to
the battery and the battery may explode and
result in injury to you or others.
Allow the battery to charge for
12-24 hours. Do
not charge battery for more than
24 hours maxi-
mum. Battery should
be recharged after
6
months of storage for 12-24 hours maximum.
NOTE: Never allow a discharged battery to sit
more than 24 hours without charging, damage
to the battery will result. Disconnect the battery
charger from the battery during storage.
NOTE: Battery has to be out of service and
disconnected from the charger for a minimum
of 24 hours before testing.
Using a voltmeter check battery open
circuit voltage (O.C.V.). Readings can indicate
battery condition and state of charge.

Below 11.6
A reading of 12.8 13.2 volts indicates
a
good
battery in a full or nearly full state of charge. A
reading below 11.6 volts indicates a suspect
battery or one in need of charging.
NOTE:
If
an
accurate voltmeter is not avail-
able, connect battery to a 12V automobile
headlamp. A bright lamp for 60 seconds indi-
cates an adequate battery.
Do not leave head-
lamp connected too long as the
4-5 amp load
will quickly discharge the battery -and cause
permanent damage.
