Disconnect connector "C" "D" starter
motor from engine wiring harness. Connect
ohmmeter to Red wire "D" from starter and
chassis ground. SLOWLY rotate armature
through 360° Measure resistance.
SPECIFICATION
Wlndlng Reslstance through 360°
Less than 10 ohms
If high resistance or open circuit (infinate resis-
tance) is shown, replace starter motor.
NOTE: Starter motor has permanent mag-
nets.
If
rotated rapidly it acts as a generator and
readings will be incorrect.
SAFETY WARNING: Battery electro-
lyte

an acidic solution and should
be handled with care. If electrolyte
is
spllled
or splashed on any part of the body, Imme-
dlately flush the exposed area with liberal
amounts of water and obtain medical ald as
soon as posslble.
NOTE: Battery is supplied dry-charge and
sealed with tape. DO NOT remove sealing tape
until activating battery.
Place battery on a flat surface. Remove
sealing tape.
Use dikes or side cutter, carefully cut each
bottleneck between tip and black colored sec-
tion of electrolyte container.
