1 Components (Fig. 1)
(a) Long arm
(b) Short arm
(c) Pivot joint
(d) Rotation pointer
2 Indications for use
The compromise center of rotation for accurate location of orthosis joints
based on Nietert can be marked directly on the leg. The a-p knee width
is divided by the proportion 60:40 at a distance of 25 mm above the gap
between tibia and femur.
3 Application and use
Unfold the knee pivot gauge and pull it onto the knee. The long arm is in the
front and the black sleeves are located on the patella center, or possibly,
placed in the popliteal space created when the leg is slightly flexed (Fig.
2). Adapt the knee pivot gauge to the knee size by pressing it together.
Mark off the compromise point of rotation medially and laterally (Fig. 3).
Use the rotation pointer to visually check the rotation of the determined
joint axis in relation to the longitudinal axis of the leg.
4 Cleaning and care
Clean the knee pivot gauge by washing with water. If the gauge is used
frequently for plaster impression, grease the arm pivot points slightly.
5 Liability
The manufacturer's warranty applies only if the device has been used
under the conditions and for the purposes described. The manufacturer
recommends that the device be used and maintained according to the
instructions for use.
