13. Thread cutting and diameter fine adjustment
When presetting the cutting head the diameter is set too little, intentionally. Due to the
twisting of the excentric ring. Thus we recommend correcting the position of the con-
necting rod within the section A in Z (-) before cutting the first thread. This means
to open the cutting head slightly.
In the event that the setting of the head has been increased to 0,2 mm compared to
the designated thread diameter, the position "head closed" should be adjusted to 0,4
mm compared to the position "head closed max." (1 mm of the connecting rod path
amounts to an adjustment of 0,05 mm of the diameter).
This adjustment prevents the chasers from unnecessary load while cutting the first
thread.
1mm connecting rod path amounts to 0,05 Ø adjustment
Having cut the first thread, the thread diameter (ideally the flank diameter) has to be
checked resp. measured. This necessary adjustment is again done by the connecting
rod.
Should the diameter of the cut thread be too small, it has to be adjusted in the section
Z (-).
As mentioned before 1 mm connecting rod path amounts to about 0,05mm adjust-
ment of the diameter. This means that the position of the connecting rod has to be
adjusted at 3 mm within the section Z (-) in order to achieve an adjustment of +0,15
mm of the thread.
Should the diameter of the thread be too big, it has to be adjusted in the section
Z(+).
Please take note that not more than 8 mm of the available lift should be used to ad-
just the diameter. (8 mm = 0,4 mm adjustment of the diameter)
Major adjustment should be done by twisting the excentric ring. (See chapter 8)
